The major objective of the NPO SPARC Scientific and Production Association is to design and introduce new-generation high precision measuring and diagnostic devices into the process of aircraft making and maintenance. Implementation of the new-generation test equipment meets the objectives of modern Russian engineering industry. Yury A. Borisov Chairman of the Board of Directors, NPO SPARC NPO SPARC Scientific and Production Association The NPO SPARC Scientific and Production Association was established in The principal activity of the NPO SPARC is design and production of advanced test equipment based on digital technologies. The core of the company's personnel is represented by the following highly skilled aviation professionals: process engineers, programmers, electronics engineers, and practical engineers for aircraft equipment maintenance and overhaul. Many of them have academic degrees of Doctor of Science, and Candidate of Science. All the test equipment is approved and experimentally operated in the shops and laboratories of SPARC JSC, the leading aircraft repair plant in Russia. 2 TEST SYSTEMS The КПК test systems produced by the NPO SPARC are to be used in maintenance laboratories of air companies and maintenance units of Government Aviation. The test systems are used for diagnosing the avionics of Mi-8, Mi-8MT, Mi-8MTV, Mi-8AMT, Mi-17, Mi-17-1V, Mi-171, Mi-172 helicopters in the course of their maintenance. КПК test system in one of the shops of SPARC JSC Operation principle of the test systems is based on application of computer technologies and highprecision measuring devices. Helicopter units and equipment to be diagnosed by one type test system have been selected according to their functional belonging. The test systems perform diagnosis of helicopter units and equipment in full compliance with testing practice, and on the basis of applicable documentation. Every unit can be easily connected to a test system. An operator enters all the data about the unit, i.e. designation, helicopter number, operating time, and runs the test programme. The test system automatically executes a complete test cycle and generates a report. Its monitor interface allows monitoring a testing process visually and immediately. Test data are automatically stored in the test system database. Test results can be printed out on manual command. In case a defect is detected during the equipment diagnosis process, the test system does not merely report about the case but also generates a recommendation of the measures to be taken in order to eliminate the defect. Nowadays the test system interface is made in three languages: Russian, English, and Spanish. Every test system is powered from a standard line power supply 220V 50Hz. 3 4 DESIGN AND DESCRIPTION The test systems are modular-constructed. Separate parts of the system form the operator s work station. The КПК test system typically consists of: a table to dispose tested equipment on; a control module defined as measuring and computing complex that incorporates industrial computers, power sources, measuring boards, and control signal boards; measuring boards; a touch monitor placed into an optipanel that allows changing its tilt and rotation angles; a keyboard; a mouse pointing device; an auxiliary module to store documentation, patch cords, tools, and spare parts; a set of patch cords General view of the КПК test system 1. A printer is used for printing out the results of equipment tests.
