Page 4 / 13 5 Functions 5.1 Adjustment of instrument panel lighting : The adjustment of the instrument panel lighting should be done with dipped beams switched on. 5.2 Impact of the function in the BSI Citroën C3, C3 Pluriel and C2 There are problems of compatibility between the BSI and the instrument panel. o On early versions (editions) of the BSI software up to versions 33.x inclusive, the instrument panel should have a software version o On versions (editions) of the BSI software 35.x and 37.x, the instrument panel should have a software version o On versions (editions) of the BSI software 39.x and later, a configuration parameter is used to adapt the BSI to instrument panels in software version 0806 as well as to instrument panels in software version This parameter («instrument panel software version») can be accessed via the menu MANUAL PROGRAMMING - CONFIGURATION after the start of communication with the BSI using a diagnostic tool. Page 5 / 13 6 [G06][S00] Preliminary checks on the BSI Stage 1 Identification of a BSI in back-up mode: - First case: When the ignition is switched on (+APC), the vehicle s sidelamps come on, the windscreen wiper operates in intermittent wipe, - Second case: With the engine running, the dipped beams come on, the windscreen wiper operates in intermittent wipe. Does the BSI show symptoms of being in back-up mode? End procedure Stage 2 Check the fuses, the supplies of the BSI repair if necessary Stage 3 Using a diagnostic tool, start communication with the BSI, select the menu «IDENTIFICATION» Are you able to read the software version (*) of the BSI? Page 7 / 13 Stage 10 Using a diagnostic tool, start communication with the BSI. Select the menu «ACTUATOR TEST» then «LIGHTING / SIGNALLING» Carry out an actuator test on the horn Did the horn work? Stage 12 Using a diagnostic tool, start communication with the BSI. Select the menu «ACTUATOR TEST» then «LIGHTING / SIGNALLING» Carry out an actuator test on the dipped beams. Stage 11 Check the harness and the wiring Change the switch module under the steering wheel. The BSI is not the cause, replacement not authorised Did the dipped beams come on? Stage 13: End procedure The BSI is at fault, replacement authorised Stage 14: End procedure The Engine Relay Unit is faulty. The BSI is not the cause, replacement not authorised Page 8 / 13 7 [G06][S01] Lighting of the airbag warning lamp without other warning lamps coming on. In this case, the BSI is not the cause. Replacement not authorised. A quality campaign (XRL) has been mounted to resolve this problem. This campaign entails fitting a separate control unit on the instrument panel. Refer to this campaign to familiarise yourself with the procedure. In this case, the BSI is not the cause. Replacement not authorised. 9 [G06][S03] Flashing or extinction of instrument panel lighting (on all vehicles dealt with in this procedure except Xsara Picasso ( RPO ). - The symptom is temporary : o 1st case : the instrument panel goes out, and immediately afterwards several warning lamps come on : For all vehicles dealt with in this procedure except Citroën C8 and C5 (RPO 9618). If all these tests cannot determine the origin of the problem, replacement of the BSI is authorised. 10 [G06][S04] Abnormal lighting of a single warning lamp If the warning lamp is not a direct wire output of the BSI, the BSI is not the cause. Replacement not authorised If the warning lamp is a direct wire output of the BSI, check for the presence of faults at the instrument panel : if no fault is present, call technical assistance. Page 10 / 13 11 [G06][S05] The instrument panel does not light up at all STAGE 1 Basic requirements Check the condition of the fuses associated with the instrument panel. In this case, the BSI is not the cause. Replacement not authorised. If other symptoms, dealt with by these instructions not to remove the BSI, are present, deal first with the other symptoms to discover whether the BSI is the cause. - n-multiplexed ABS : apply the After-Sales checking procedure : o Check the continuity of the harness. o Deal with the faults present in fault reading in the ABS ECU. 14 [G06][S08] Mileage display of mileage : In the diagnostic tool menu : «instrument panel», «actuator tests», check the instrument panel by performing an odometer actuator test.
