Time line for proposal writing Time for project planning! - Contact hosts, partners for secondments, supervisors - Additional support from the hosts and partners? - Engagement, co-funding (overhead costs) Involve Grants Offices, Research Services! (NCP) Sources for additional information: other MSCA Fellows and beneficaries, successful proposals, supervisors Get familiar to Funding & Tenders Portal and find crucial documentation! Evaluation Read Guide for Applicants!!! Follow Guide for Applicants!!! Does the proposal answer to the evaluation criteria? Make it easy for the evaluator Use a self-explanatory title A memorable acronym is helpful Use Diagrams, Charts, Tables or Figures where possible (easy to evaluate) Minimise scientific jargon and write in a clear readable style Get to key points quickly Be very clear in presenting what the project is about, why it is motivated For resubmissions, don t just use Evaluation Summary Report from previous submission to help you revise Look at the proposal as a whole to find room for improvement You need to score well in all sections in order to be funded don t spend all your time writing the Research section! How evaluators read proposals Not necessarily from beginning to end May read a couple of proposals before scoring Typical winners are usually clear Argumentation is complete Proposal is well worked through Issues and possible weaknesses are discussed Statements are backed by facts The partnership is obviously good The most common questions are What is the salary before and after tax? What is the mobility allowance? When does the Fellow have the right to get the mobility allowance? Recommendation 1: Recommendation 2: Ask if you do not know or are not convinced that GfA is not followed! Make sure that Fellow, employer, HR department, management and Grants Office involved get the same information before the project starts! This is how it is according to GfA Living allowance is contribution to base salary ER: should be based on education, experience, competition and similar to other in the organisation ESR: should follow Doktorandstegen in Sweden (minimum) Living allowances include employer fees and income tax Mobility and family allowances are taxed as income but is not base salary. Shall extensively be used for and by the ER/ESR Research, training allowances is used for activities stated in Annex 1 / Project description Funding & Tenders Portal the Single Electronic Data Interchange Area Contains all documentation - be selective!
